new old stove
don’t worry, my blog isn’t going to start to be about all the beautiful things i can cook. mostly because i don’t cook very many beautiful things. after all, i own one (dull) knife that is not a butter knife, one saucepan (and no other kinds of pans), and forget to use my new kitchen aide when i bake.
but i have this new apartment, and thus a new stove, which is actually an ancient stove. the man who lived here before was here since 1970 (no, he didn’t die here), and the stove has been here at least as long. so, though it had proved it could make oatmeal and eggs (two things i’m great at cooking!), i was curious to try the oven.

the stove is wide, with a little work space on top, next to the burners. there are three burners, and one recessed double boiler where, according to instructions on the lid, you can steam veggies, pop corn, make jellies, and sterilize bottles, among many other things. up on top are these wonderful salt and pepper shakers.
and, most importantly, the oven works. more than well, in fact, i almost burned these poor little muffins (but in the end they turned out lovely).
